The Boat
The current 157-R is our second boat, built in 2012 by John Peeters from Ed Karelsen's design

Our boat is an Ed Karelsen design, built in 2012 by John Peeters of Seattle. It is 10-feet, six inches long, and is built to the specifications of the C-Hydro category of the American Power Boat Association (APBA). After taking possession of the boat in June 2015, the team worked to make a number of changes that improved its performance even more. We even painted the boat!

Our first boat
Our first boat, purchased on Labor Day 2014, was a 1986 Furnal Flyer that we purchase from Archie Parker in Bellingham, Wash. We ran the boat competitively in our first race ever at Lake Lawrence in Yelm, Wash., in September of 2014, and were able to finish every heat we started.
When we had an opportunity to purchase our new boat in June of 2015, we jumped on it, and John and Peter Steach (also of Vancouver) purchased our Furnal Flyer, so it will be back on the water starting during the 2016 season. |
